I love Mel as a designer as she is always coming out with something different, her new kit is nothing like the last one she put out, so there is always a fresh feeling to whatever she does! Bright bold colors in one kit, and soft pastels in another. And you can win a $5 gift certificate to her store by simply doing a layout! Make sure you get your layouts uploaded by January 5th to be entered! (See below post for all the details). And if you just can't wait, then head over to the store now and snag some of these great kits!! Thanks for looking and happy scrapping!!

New Recipe Challenge

Hey guys! Have you seen Mel's new Christmas kit, Starry Starry Night?!?! I absolutely love it, it's the cutest kit ever!! Those star characters are so cute! And for an extra dollar you can get the additional alpha, the gift tags and the quick pages!! It's a great deal and soooo worth it! The reason I'm showing you this kit (if you haven't seen it already) is because you have the chance to win it, or any other of Mel's kits! The grand prize is for a $5 gift certificate to Mel's Store! All you have to do is follow this layout "recipe":

Do one two page layout (12x24 if you've never done one before) using:
at least 3 photos,
5 papers,
at least two different shapes (my layout has a circle and squares)
and a minimum of 8 elements, not including the title.
You may use fonts and alphas, and you must use at least 80% Scrap that Idea products.
Here is my layout using Mel's Starry Starry Night kit as an example:

This was the first two page layout I have ever done, and I was really happy with the way it turned out. Then if you want to separate it for printing, you just crop each half into 12x12 and save it. Easy! I can't wait to see what you come up with. Make sure you log in so we know which layouts are yours! Post them to the challenge gallery by Tuesday January 5th, 2010, and the winner will be chosen at random and posted on Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 (as long as I don't forget!! ) So get scrapping, and have fun!!

A freebie to celebrate our return

We want everyone to know that we are back in business - our store is re-open and we are all geared up for Christmas! In celebration of our fantastic news, we have a freebie collab kit for you which you can get in full all at once :)

Take a look at the gorgeous kit that coordinates with 'Fresh Ideas' - our very first store collab (which you can pick up today for just $2). Click the links below to download and be sure to leave a comment telling us what you think! There are also some gorgeous new kits in store - be sure to check them out!

Pete and Repeat Challenge!

Hey everyone, the Scrap That Idea store is now open...AGAIN! So if you've been eyeing some kits in there, you can go grab them now! And now that the store is up and running, there are some new kits there as well, like this one from Stacey, I is for I love you. And how would you like to win this kit? Or any kit of your choice from Stacey's store??
Well, I have a new challenge for you, and the grand prize is a kit of your choice from Stacey! You know that old joke that goes...Pete and Repeat were in a boat, Pete fell out, who was left? {Repeat}...Pete and Repeat were in a boat, Pete fell out, who was left?...you get the idea. Well, this challenge is a little different, and involves "repeating". I got the idea from other challenges I have participated in, except that we provide all the parts! SO, this is how it goes:

Stacey has provided an add on mini kit that matches her "I is for I Love You" kit. The challenge is to grab the mini kit, (I know, no real challenge there hey!! Isn't it cute?!) and do a layout using only the pieces in the mini kit. You can re-color or re-size them , extract parts of them, use them however you want, but they must be recognizable (and obviously nothing that would be against the TOU!!) You may also use text (but no Alpha's!!) on your layouts. I find this challenge particularly hard, as I am an element-aholic, so it really stretches my creativity to have to use the same elements in different ways. I think this is a great way to get more use out of your kits too, as it also helps us to see how many different ways each element can possibly be used! So let's see how creative you are!! Here is the mini kit, click on the kit preview to be directed to the download, and please leave some love for Stacey if you download!!
And here is a preview of my layout as an example, I used a freebie template that you can find HERE (thanks Meagan!!):I used several of the papers, "repeated" the floral frame several times, used the flowers in varying sizes multiple times, and extracted the metal button from the middle of the flower to use as a separate element.

So have fun, and make sure you get your layouts posted to the challenge gallery by December 15th! (Please also make sure to login before you upload your layout, you need to be logged in for your user name to show up under your layout!) The winner will be drawn randomly and posted here on December 16th. Happy scrapping, and I can't wait to see your layouts!!

**Edited to add, you can enter as many times as you like! I would love to see how many different ways we can use these items!**
